After breakfast we will start traveling south to Merzouga desert via Midelt and Errachidia. So, on this Sahara Morocco tours, your first stop will be at Ifrane city, referred to as "the Switzerland of Morocco", and then to Merzouga via Midlet and the Ziz Valley. During this journey you'll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Then stopping at the famous cedar forest – the largest one in Morocco. There you will have the opportunity to see the Barbarian apes. You'll notice how the scenery changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the Errachidia city. After lunch in Midelt, continue your Sahara Morocco tours along the spectacular Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We will drive through Berber villages to Erfoud then to Rissani; the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty - the current ruling royal family in Morocco. Arriving in Merzouga at the end of the day, you'll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea and after you will go to see the sunset in the highest sand dunes in morocco. Enjoy a free day until heading out on a camel safari in the late afternoon. Spend the cool morning exploring the undulating golden sand of the dunes or simply relaxing by the pool. Opt to explore the surrounding communities on a 4x4 excursion. In the afternoon, take an overnight bag and set off on a 1-hr camel ride to a desert camp deep in the dunes. Local guides will teach you how to mount and dismount and how to tie a turban to keep the desert sun off your face and add a little flare to your photos. Enjoy a warm welcome at the desert camp followed by a traditional dinner under the stars. There will be time to hear stories about life in this region and perhaps, if lucky, be treated to some traditional music on the drums. Additional Notes: Notes for the Sahara Desert tented camp stay: There will be a chance to repack and take only overnight bags out to the desert. The accommodations are basic, with four people per tent (though feel free to sleep out under the stars). Bathroom facilities are basic and shared. Mattresses with sheet and blanket are provided. For winter months (Nov- April), we recommend bringing a sleeping bag for additional warmth. There will be the chance to shower upon arrival in Merzouga the following morning. Your camel guide will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise in your life. Then you'll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. So en-route you won't fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast and hot shower, you'll leave for Rissani, Tinghir and Todra gorges. In fact they are the highest, narrowest gorges in Morocco. Then after lunch in the heart of the gorge we'll continue our Fes Desert Tours via Sahara Desert, through the Dades Valley. There where you'll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Finally overnight accommodation will be in a fancy traditional guesthouse overlooking the Dades valley with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, we'll drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M'gouna and Ouarzazate. Since the route through Dades Valley is named the way of thousand kasbahs. It provides numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip. So today we will have the opportunity to visit a nomad family in the mountain living in caves. There you will discovanotherher style of life, different from the other one in the Sahara desert. Then we'll stop at Kalaa Mgouna “the rose city” to purchase the rosewater. It will make your linen smell good a long time after your trip is over. Continuing on our Fes Desert Tours via Sahara Desert, to Skoura you will visit the Kasbah Ameridil. A well-preserved Kasbah in this area. Then lunch will be in a traditional Moroccan restaurant overlooking the beautiful valley, then it's on to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa”, whose geography and beautiful landscapes has attracted many world class movie producers. Here you may choose to visit the studios, containing props used in movies such as The Mummy, Gladiator and the Last temptation of Christ… Finally overnight accommodation will be in a riad with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, we will start our trip by a visit of cinema studios found in Ouarzazate which is regarded as Hollywood of Africa. Subsequently we will visit the all inclusive Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah as it has been named by Unesco in 1987. Ait Ben Haddou is the World Heritage site that has been utilized as a setting for more than 20 movies incorporating “Gladiator” “Indiana Jones” and “Lawrence of Arabia”. Revel in a stroll to investigate the universal Moroccan style of construction modeling in which the Kasbahs are constructed. We proceed our approach to Marrakesh through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n'tichka pass. Stop for lunch up the center of the Atlas Mountains. Drop off at your riad or hotel in Marrakech.
